Zaatar Rub

Zaatar is a wonderful adaptable blend of herbs and spices to be found in absolutely every Middle Eastern kitchen. In fact, most countries from Lebanon, Syria and Jordan through to Morocco will have their own version of Zaatar, although it is generally always based on Thyme.
Thyme typically used for Zaatar in the Middle East is very different from the sometimes sharp or bitter Thyme or Oregano generally found in Australia and New Zealand. The smoothness of the authentic Thyme used in Sami's Kitchen products combined with the other Aleppo-style ingredients makes this blend a perfect match for a huge variety of meals and a must-have ingredient in your kitchen
Size: 82g resealable stand-up pouch.
Ingredients: Thyme, Sumac, Sesame, Salt, Coriander, Cumin.
Zaatar Serving Suggestions

Unlike the various forms of Dukkah which are actually rarely found in the Middle East, Zaatar is virtually eaten on a daily basis as either a snack, topping or dressing.
Man'ousheh:
A typical Lebanese bakery breakfast is a soft pizza-style savoury wrap called Man'ousheh. To make your own Man'ousheh, simply mix some Zaatar with Olive oil and spread over a round piece of dough or Lebanese bread before baking. You may also like to add fresh tomato and fresh mint before wrapping and eating.
Zaatar Bread Dip:
A great snack idea or a unique appetizer idea is to serve Zaatar with Olive oil. Dip your bread into the oil and then into the Zaatar, or mix into a paste and spread. Turkish bread is ideal for this snack.
General:
Don't forget that the Zaatar flavour can compliment any Salad dressing, meat or chicken marinade, traditional pizza or virtually anything you can imagine. We would love to hear about your ideas and recipes for Zaatar.
